Sylveon

A Pokemon I have personal experience with raising, and one of the most popular Fairy-types. Sylveon is the evolution of the Normal-type Eevee (a Pokemon famous for its many evolutions with varying types).

Behaviour.

Sylveon is known as an affectionate Pokemon, and this is often assumed to be linked to its evolution being triggered by closeness to its Trainer, and its ability to read its Trainer's feelings. Even if previously abandoned by Trainers, Sylveon are very social, and very rarely develop a fear of humans. Even those typically afraid of Pokemon, in turn, tend to be able to be around Sylveon, because of its feelers able to emit waves with a calming effect. Even the rare wild Sylveon will still usually be seen with humans, because of this.

Sylveon is not a Pokemon to be disregarded as a mere pet, though, because it is also rather battle-hungry. Once provoked, Sylveon is known to charge unfearingly at Dragon-type Pokemon many times its size. (And then proceeding to win.) It is a graceful and beautiful Pokemon, even as it battles, with many people commenting that it almost seems smug as it knocks out opponents without breaking a sweat. Its movements in battle are compared to a ballerina's -- staying on its toes, twirling and jumping to evade attacks and sneak up on enemies from behind.

Diet.

Sylveon are omnivores but are known to often actively prefer human-made foods, such as PokePuffs and homemade mixes for kibble. Despite this, it is not a high-maintenance or picky eater. It will not turn up its nose at kibble if there is not a homemade mix added or refuse the typical berries. Food one makes themself is merely something that Sylveon is noted as being particularly thrilled at, and many Trainers find their bond with Sylveon improves drastically once switching to food that is primarily or partially made by themself.

In the wild, it often hunts for its food, so getting toys to curb its hunting instincts is also recommended.

Grooming

Sylveon don't need to be groomed often, but I would recommend doing so anyways, mostly for the simple fact that they love the attention. When it comes to actually keeping Sylveon clean, bimonthly baths and brushing should do just fine. But if you are watching the telly and happen to have your Sylveon with you, consider bringing the brush out. Even if it's absentminded, it will keep your Sylveon both clean and happy.

Conclusion.

Sylveon is proof that a powerhouse on the battlefield and a loving, social companion can come in the same package. Sylveon is a fantastic companion, battler, and even service Pokemon, with its ability to calm others and sense emotions with its feelers making it a great choice for those with anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and the like. Sylveon is a Pokemon I can recommend to most Trainers with decent confidence, assuming that they have the patience and time to handle this Pokemon's more clingy tendencies.
